The First Orientation at the Campus

January 7th 2019
The first orientation in the receiving University
This is the first day my story in Thailand began!

To notify and prepare what we, seateacher students were going to do in this program, the stuff of UDRU (Udon Thani Rhajabat University) including the lecturers and the president conducted an important meeting for it. We were asked to attend in the particular room. They politely greeted and began the meeting  by the speech uttered by the president of UDRU. After that, UDRU presented a beautiful dance named In Korn Forn Kan . The dance tells us about the ambience as the children in Thailand were playing one another.
Here is the video of the dance used as the symbol of greeting. They usually present this dance in every activity:

Then, it was the time for the deligations of the schools we were going to visit, to present some words by demonstrating of how their schools look like including the location, the number of the students they have, and  some activities they usually do at school.

The first time Agung and I met the mentor from Ban Makkhaeng School

There were four schools willing to receive us, thus we are able to practice our teaching. They are Ban Makkhaeng School, Udon Piityanukun School, Demonstration School, and Satrirachinuthit School. As an english teacher, i was chosen to do my teaching for Mathayom 3/ the third grade of Junior High School by the guidance of Mom Kun in Ban Makkhaeng school not far the campus. It takes approximately 15 minutes by food but takes 3 minutes by motorcycle.

Ban Makkhaeng School is one of the biggest school in Udon Thani Province. The number of the students they have is about 3.000 students. In Ban Makkhaeng school, there are also special classes especially for children with disabilities. Having discussed about what i would do and everything of Ban Makkhaeng School, we as sea-teacher students were taught about Thai language including how to pronounce the thai words, and how take make a correct sentence grammatically. There are 44 consonants and 32 vocal we can find in Thai language.

Here is the picture of the characters of thai as i was studying about it followed by its exercises:

Learning thai, we also played a game to stimulate our attraction on it. The rules were firstly, we had to make some groups. In each group, we had to find the Thai character immediately as the instrutor showed us the Thai-character. The group who was able to have the perfect row consisting three Thai-characters in the coloum having provided before would be the winner in that game. After doing this game, we were singing a song followed by holding our near friend to make the circle form, then, we walking around the room. The atmosphere was absolutely crowded but funny.

In order to show us the second campus of UDRU, they then took us to Sam Phrao campus taking 30 minutes from the Main campus by bus. In fact, UDRU has three campuses, namely: 1.Main Campus, 2.Sam Phrao Campus and 3. Bueng Kan Campus. The campuses are so big. These are the pictures i captured as we visited the second campus, Sam Phrao Campus:

To end the meeting, we did dinner together. The foods were mostly seafoods, and i liked that. It was the first time i ate octopus anyway, lol:
Having gotten our dinner, we continued playng a game. The rule was that we had to guess the name of famous movie according to the clues given by our group. The one who could answer correctly and firstly would be the winner in this game. Even if it was so noisy, but we completely enjoyed the game.
To end the activity, we went back to our dorm to get the rest, because it was a very tiring day.
