Farewell Party in Ban Makkhaeng School

January, 28th 2019
The time to run farewell party at Ban Makkhaeng School

At that time, Ban Makkhaeng school held a special occasion for seateacher students having practiced their teaching practice at that  school. They are Norman, Agung, and I. Norman is seateacher student coming from philippinos, but Agung and I are from Indonesia. We were gathered in Ban Makkhaeng to have experiences in teaching. Before starting the occasion Mom kun, Agung, Norman, and I helped by the other teachers prepared the place including providing the sound, tables, chairs and foods to be given to people going to attend the party. Preparing the occasion, i was asked to teach Mom Kun as my mentor at that school to cook indonesian food together. Therefore, i had thought that, making “Nasi Pecel” in that Farewell party would be nice and in the other hand, the steps to make this kind of food is easy enough. The ingrediants we needed were just some boiled vegetables, namely: matard green, long beans, and sprouts. The other ingredients we served were rice, boiled eggs that have been peeled from its eggshell, the covered by nut sausage i bought before i went to Thailand.

Here is the video as she was trying to make Nasi Pecel in the meeting hall of Ban Makkhaeng School:

To begin the activity, the headmaster of Ban Makkhaeng School gave some speech for us. He told us that he was so happy to accept us as the members of Ban  Makkhaeng School Teachers.  Then, he  bestowedn three sertificates for Agung, Norman, and me.
The director of Ban Makkhaeng School gave me the certificate

We eventually received the certificates

Mom kun as the translator, she translated of what headmaster said into english. Hence, It could be understood by people in that meeting hall. We as seateacher students having practiced our teaching in Ban Makkhaeng School were asked to give some speech about our experiences we got and our feeling as i were there. Going on the stage one by one, we utter our feeling to BMK(Ban Makkhaeng School) people. While giving the speech, i realized that perhaps it was the last tiime we could meet. Althought i didn’t want to end that, but I had to leave them since my flight would be in February, 3rd.  For exchange culture, i have taught everybody in that room about how to make ‘Nasi Pecel’. Then, It was the time for Ban Makkhaeng School to show us about Thailand Culture. The first dance was conducted by students from the grade 4 of elementary school. There were about 6 until 8 children dancing. Then, the next section was the Dance Performance of Tun Tun, a student of the first grade of Senior High School. She was dancing beautifully. The name of the dance is Fon Aeyporn in which it means the wish of people to be good luck in the future.

Then, the next dance was delivered by the students of the fourth grade of elementary school. The name of the dance is Ram Serng a famous local dance from Esarn region.

After that, we got lunch together. Thai foods and indonesia foods were mixed together on the table. that togethernes was unforgetable thing i got. I was absolutely happy since according to my students, Nasi Pecel mom kun and I made was so delicious and they liked that. Even if it was just in a mont, but i really hope that it was not the end. I told my mentor at school that, if i have a chance in the future i would come back to Udon Thani again and find a job there. i heard unintentionally that english teacher from Indonesia is pretty rare there. Most of them are from Philippines. Thus i am so eager to find a job as an english teacher there, besides i have experiences in teaching the foreign students too.

The Weekend in Nong Khai Province, Thailand

January, 26th 2019
Speding our weekend in Nong Khai, Thailand

The last trip i got in the last week in Thailand is when  we, seateacher students visited nongkhai province for looking some interesting places. They are Sala Kaew Ku or people usually call it Wat Khaek, followed by visiting Thasadet Market near with the first Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge. At that time, as usually all of seateacher students were asked to wait for the bus near with ATM mechine in UDRU at 8 AM.
The  ambience as visiting Nong Khai Province
The first place we visited was Sala Kaew Ku or Wat Khaek in which we could discover many sculptures of buddha ant his subordinates there. It took approximately an hour to get the place.  Having arrived at that place, we as usuall took picture together in front of the gate. For the price of the ticket, i didn’t know since the ticket had been bought by UDRU for us. Entering the destination, i saw alot of sculptures. No wonder that place is yelled as Sala Kaew Ku which means a place that has many sculpture. Those buildings were created by Boun Leua Sulilat who was a Lao man spending his whole life by learning the mystical knowledge from an ascetic hermit named kaew Ku, living in a gave in Laos. But unfortunately when Laos succumed to communist rule in the 1970s, he had to abondan that place. The most attractive sculpture i saw was a man sitting on a snake having seven heads.

I was not sure the number of the sculptures we can find there. But there were big ones and small ones. Walking around the building, i also met with munks always wearing orange outfit. They were so nice.
Here are the pictures of mine as I was in Sala Kaew Ku:

The view near the entrance
The second spot we visited by bus was Thasadet Market.  Exploring Thasadet Market taking about 15 minutes from Wat Kaek, we could discover alot of handicrufts, clothes, throusers, woven products, and some kinds of foods too. This market is very near with Mekong river a border between Thai and Laos Country.

For thai people, they could visit Loas by accrosing Mekong river without showing the passport. They just need to show the citizenship as Thai people. At that market i bought some clothes for me, my young sister and young brother. Then, we went to the restaurant near with Mekong river. There were many kinds of food, but to be honest i was very afraid while eating since there was perhaps pork ingredient in those foods.

The Trip in the Second Week

January, 19th 2019
The Trip in the Second Week conducted by UDRU for us

In order to refresh our mind from our routines everyday, UDRU took us to some beautiful places in Udon Thani Province by bus. The journey was begin at 08.00 AM. I was so excited since A-jarn Kim a mentor at the university conveyed that we were going to go to Wat Photisomphon, Udon Thani Museum, and Thai- Chinese Cultural Center by a bus . They vehicle was so unique. It looks like a small bus, but it doesn’t have windows at all.
Riding that vehicle together to get the place, we were also accompanied by a tourist guide. She explained everything including why people in Udon Thani usually wear orange clothes, the history of the name of Ban Makkhaeng region, and so on. After arriving in the first place, Wat Photisomphon, as usual we didn’t forget to take pictures together in front of the buiding. The weather was so nice. It was not cloudy at all. Entering the building, we saw many buddha’s sculpture including its sabordinates. The touristy guide clearly explained that when budha was born to this world, he could take about seven steps without being helped by other people.
And the reason why most of them there usually wear orange clothes whenever there is a special occasion, because budha was born under a tree having orange flower. Wa Photisomphon a holy place for buddha people has four floors. Here are the pictures when i was in that place.

The second place we visited was Udon Thani Museum. They told me that this plase was usually used to take the picture for a couple who want to marry, since it had a nice view. The contain in that musium is about haw ancient people survived, and sometime it also showed us abot the klife of dinosaurs in the old time. In the back of the musium, we could see a very beutiful lake.  I am not sure the name of that lake. In the fist floor before we entered the musium, the are some sellers selling somesouvenirs of udon thani, namely : earthware flask with neck and yellow duck that is a symbol of Udon Thani. Therefore, No wonder that in Nong Prajak Prak, we could discover the big image of these souvenirs.
The third place we visited was Thai-Chinese Cultural Center. I think it is the mix of Thain and Chenese Culture. A long time ago, Chenese people went and stay in Udon Thani for Business Purposes and they made their home in a particular area in Udon Thani. Thus, No wonder that every fifth February, most of people in Udon Thani celebrate Chinese New Year.In that building, we could dicover many items that are considered as a symbol of chinese.

The garden of the centre has been designed in Chinese style under the name “the 24 Manners of Gratitude the Garden of Thausand-Year-Old Morality”. The lotus and emperor-carp-ponds are spectacularly encompassed by various colourful aupicious plants of China including bearded dragon, willow, and black bamboo.

The Day for the Assessment of My Teaching Practice

January 22th 2019
Let’s Doing Assessment of my Teaching.. 555

According to the schedule made by SEA-Teacher program, our teaching assessment would be started in the third week after doing observation and teaching assistence. Thus, I was scheduled to have practicing in January 22th 2019 to teach 3/8 class at 9.20 AM. Observed by my mentor at university, Mr Nookorn Pathommapas and my mentor at school, Mrs. Manasakun, I taught my students about preposition of movement. Even though we have difference language, It was not such a big deal for me since as long as the teacher has a good technique in teaching, of course, the material delivered to the students would be easier to understand. So, in order to be able to be understood, i utilized videos and pictures as the illustrations of preposition of movement. By looking at those medias, My explanation would be understandable than if i just talked. Using a proper and suitable media in teaching is completely crucial in teaching. If we do not provide an interesting game, They will definately be easier to get bored. Before doing my teaching practice, I had already given some piece of papers containing  about my lesson plan to Mr Nookorn Pathommapas and my mentor Mrs. Manasakun . As i was doing my teaching, the two mentors were assessing my teaching practice.
Here is my lesson plan about preposition of movement.

After finishing my teaching practice, My mentors gave me some verbal judgements and luckily both of them stated that my teaching practice wes really perfect.

Another schedule af ter doing that activity was that providing tutorial for the students to prepare themselves to face the O-net Test that would be held in February 2nd and 3rd 2019. The test is supposed to be very difficult. Therefore, it is very important for them to have tutorial. They were provided a video of a famous english teacher in Thailand.
